N'SHOMA with
RICHARD KAMINS
Sundays, 11-noon
Richard Kamins, host of "N'Shomah" and occasional host of "The Best of the
Valley-Shore", is a Middletown native and long-time resident. In fact, he
grew up listening to AM-1150 (favorite show: The "Top 30" countdown every
Saturday morning hosted by Mr. Ed Henry!) He's a graduate of Middletown High
School, Middlesex Community College, University of Connecticut/Storrs and
earned a Master of Liberal Sciences from Wesleyan University.
After nearly 4 decades in the retail wine and liquor business, Richard came
to work at the radio station in 2007 to work in the Traffic Department and
as co-producer of "Valley-Shore." But, he had already been on the air as
host of Sunday morning Jewish music show in November of 1996. Armed with 30
Klezmer and Jewish music LPs and 5 or 6 CDs, "N'Shomah" has expanded to
include music from all over the world, from Broadway to Israel to South
America. In addition, Richard interviews authors, musicians, composers and
newsmakers as well as presenting live music in the studio.
Currently President of the Russell Library Board of Directors, Richard is
also on the Board of the Middlesex County Historical Society and serves on
the City of Middletown Commission of the Arts. He's also an actor, having
appeared in over a dozen plays with the Middletown-based Vintage Players. He
and wife Naomi are proud parents of Sarah and Rachel and are proud to
announce the arrival of the their 1st grandchild, Elliot Flaxman Kamins.
